Why is my scanner failing or giving inaccurate results after a Styku Studio update?

Why is my scanner failing or giving inaccurate results after a Styku Studio update?

After a Styku Studio software update, scan failures or inaccurate results are usually resolved by restarting the computer and verifying that the software is running correctly. If the update did not complete properly, reinstalling the latest version of Styku Studio typically restores normal operation.

Step 1: Restart the Styku Laptop

A full restart clears temporary issues that can occur after a software update.

  1. Close Styku Studio completely.
  2. Click Start > Power > Restart (do not select Shut Down — use Restart).
  3. Wait for the computer to fully reload before opening Styku Studio again.

Step 2: Confirm Styku Studio Launched Correctly

  1. Open Styku Studio from the desktop shortcut.
  2. To access admin settings, tap View Profile Only from the home screen and enter your Admin PIN.
  3. Check that the home screen loads without any error messages.

Step 3: Reset the Profiles List (If Profiles Appear Incorrect)

If the profiles list looks wrong or is not loading correctly after the update, you can reset it:

  1. Close the Styku software and open the folder icon.
  2. Type C:\programdata\stykuV5\archive cache in the search bar.
  3. Locate the file named body_cache_v2.cfg and delete it.
  4. Reopen the software.

Step 4: Run a Test Scan

Before scanning a real client, run a quick test scan to confirm everything is working.

  1. From the home screen, have a test client log in to their scan profile. Note: in Studio V5, the client (the person being scanned) must log in prior to scanning — not the scanner administrator. There are two login options: QR Code or Email.
  2. The system will automatically check the sensor and turntable before the scan begins.
  3. Confirm proper scan attire. For best results, clients should wear form-fitting clothing — for women, a sports bra and leggings; for men, bike shorts or boxer-briefs and no shirt. Loose or baggy clothing can mask body shape changes and reduce measurement accuracy.
  4. The client steps onto the turntable for weight measurement. If weight is not detected, it can be entered manually.
  5. The client assumes the A-pose and aligns until the pose frames turn green.
  6. The scan begins — the client remains still while spinning.
  7. After processing, review the scan and select Accept or Scan Again. Note: Scan Again deletes the scan and restarts the process. If predicted measurements are shown, a rescan is recommended unless the scan looks acceptable.
  8. Confirm that the 3D model and measurements display correctly at the end.

If the test scan completes successfully, your system is working normally.

Step 5: If Problems Continue — Reinstall the Latest Version

If scans are still failing or producing bad results after a restart, the update may not have installed correctly.

  1. Contact Styku Support (see below) and let them know you need assistance reinstalling the latest version of Styku Studio.
  2. Support can connect to your computer remotely to complete the reinstall and verify all functions.

If You Recently Updated to Styku Studio V5

Styku Studio V5 introduces several changes to the scanning process. If your scans look different or steps have changed, this is expected. Review the training resources below to get familiar with the new workflow:

Key changes in V5 include:

  • Client-Initiated Login — In V5, the client (the person being scanned) must log in to their scan profile before scanning begins, not the scanner administrator.
  • Two Login Options — Clients can log in via QR Code (recommended: download the app before scanning) or by entering their email address.
  • Admin PIN Access — To view profiles and access admin settings, tap View Profile Only from the home screen and enter your Admin PIN.
  • Scan Checkpoint — The system checks the sensor and turntable, and confirms correct attire and positioning before the scan begins, which improves measurement accuracy.
  • Predicted Measurements Warning — If predicted measurements appear at the review step, a rescan is recommended unless the scan looks acceptable.

If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.

If the problem persists, contact support and include: the version of Styku Studio currently installed (visible in the app settings), a description of when the issue started (e.g., immediately after update), any error messages displayed on screen, and whether the issue occurs on every scan or intermittently.
