How do I pair or connect the sensor and turntable to the Styku software?

How do I pair or connect the sensor and turntable to the Styku software?

Short Answer

There is no Bluetooth or wireless pairing. The Styku scanner connects entirely over wired USB. Plug the camera tower USB cable and the turntable USB cable into the laptop, plug the turntable's power adapter into the wall, and Styku Studio auto-detects both devices. No pairing screen, no Bluetooth setup, no app permissions.

Current scanners — X2L and S100X

The X2L (current generation) and S100X (functionally identical to the X2 series) use an Intel RealSense D455 camera and connect to the laptop the same way:

  1. Plug the camera tower USB cable into the laptop.
  2. Plug the turntable USB cable into the laptop.
  3. Plug the turntable power adapter into a wall outlet (avoid power strips). Confirm the turntable indicator light comes on.
  4. Open Styku Studio. Both devices should be detected automatically.

If Studio doesn't detect the hardware:

  • Unplug each USB cable, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
  • Try a different USB port on the laptop.
  • Confirm the turntable power adapter is plugged in and the indicator light is on.
  • Use the USB cables that shipped with your scanner — substituting other cables can prevent detection.

Legacy S100 scanners with Kinect camera

If your scanner uses a Kinect camera, you have a Styku S100 — the original generation. The S100 with Kinect is end-of-life and Styku no longer provides active setup support for it. Specifically:

Scan data from a Kinect-based S100 is not directly comparable to scans from a current Intel RealSense-based scanner. If longitudinal client tracking matters to your practice, raise this with sales before upgrading. See Can I return my newer Styku scanner because it produces lower-quality scans than my older Kinect-based system? for context.

Quick reference

**S100X** | Intel RealSense D455 | None — USB only | Fully supported (functionally identical to X2 series)

**X2 / X2 Pro** | Intel RealSense D455 | None — USB only | Supported

**S100** (legacy) | Microsoft Kinect | None — USB only | **End-of-life — new setup not supported; contact Sales for upgrade**

If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.

If the problem persists, contact support through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal and include: your scanner model (X2L, S100X, X2, X2 Pro, or S100), a description of which component is not detected (camera tower, turntable, or both), the Windows version on your laptop, and any error message displayed in Styku Studio.

Applies to: All Styku scanner configurations. For S100 (Kinect) scanners, content is reference-only — new setup is not supported.
