Why do printed scan reports show tiny graphs and text after a software update?
Why do printed scan reports show tiny graphs and text after a software update?
A formatting issue introduced in a recent Styku Studio update can cause graphs and text on printed progress reports to appear much smaller than expected. There is currently no setting inside Styku Studio to correct this directly. The workaround below will help you produce readable reports while a permanent fix is being developed.
What's Happening
The report layout template was affected by a recent software update. The content itself is correct — only the visual scaling of the printed or exported output is affected. This is a known issue and Styku's development team is working on a fix.
Recommended Workaround: Export as PDF, Then Print
Printing through your PDF viewer gives you control over page scaling, which is the most reliable way to get a full-size report right now.
- Open the scan or progress report in Styku Studio as you normally would.
- Press the Share Results button at the bottom of the window once you have opened a scan profile.
- Select the type of report you would like to create (e.g., Scan Report or Progress Report), then choose Save to save the report as a PDF file.
- Open the PDF file in a PDF viewer (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, or your browser).
- Click Print from within the PDF viewer — do not print directly from Styku Studio.
- In the print dialog, find the Page Sizing & Handling or Scale option.
- Select Fit to Page or set scaling to 100% (try both to see which fills the page best).
- Print the report.
Note: You can also customize which pages appear in the exported report before saving. In the Share Results workflow, uncheck any pages you don't want to include and then press Set Pages. For persistent changes to which pages are included in all reports going forward, go to View Profiles → Settings → Reports and Sharing → Advanced (requires your Styku administrator account login), where you will find separate Progress Report Pages and Scan Report Pages options.
Additional Options to Try
If the PDF workaround alone does not fully resolve the issue, try these additional adjustments:
- Print in landscape orientation — this may make graphs more readable by giving them more horizontal space.
- Check Windows display scaling — go to Settings → System → Display and confirm Scale is set to 100%. Restart Styku Studio after changing this.
- Check printer scaling settings — go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, select your printer, open Printing preferences, and make sure scaling is set to Actual size or 100%. Disable any Shrink to fit or Fit to page options at the printer level if you are setting those in the PDF viewer instead.
What to Expect Next
This is a confirmed formatting regression tied to the Styku Studio V5 update. Styku's team has logged it for a future software release. No action is needed on your hardware or printer — the root cause is in the software.
If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.
If the problem persists, contact support and include: your Styku Studio software version (visible in the app), a sample of the small-sized exported PDF report attached to your ticket, your Windows display scaling setting (Settings → System → Display → Scale), and your printer make and model.
Applies to: Styku Studio V5, all Styku scanner configurations
