Why did my turntable weight issue go away on its own, and how do I know it's fully fixed?
If your turntable weight issue seems to have resolved after a test scan, that is a good sign. This can happen occasionally without a clearly identified root cause. The best next step is to monitor your scanner over the coming days and reach out if the problem returns.
What "self-resolved" means in this case
Sometimes a turntable weight error clears up after the scanner is restarted, reconnected, or put through a full scan cycle during a support session. The underlying cause is not always obvious. What matters is whether the issue stays gone.
This does not necessarily mean the problem is permanently fixed. It means the issue did not recur during the test scan. Continued normal use is the best way to confirm the scanner is working correctly.
How to confirm your turntable is working properly
Perform a few routine scans and check the following each time:
- Step onto the turntable and confirm that the weight reading appears on screen before the scan begins. You can manually check the weight scale at any time by logging in as an administrator, pressing the Tools button, and pressing "Use Weight Scale", then following the on-screen instructions.
- Verify the weight displayed looks accurate for the person being scanned. Note that the V6 turntable supports a maximum weight of 330 lbs. Individuals must also meet a minimum weight of 50 lbs and be between 54 and 77 inches tall to be scanned.
- Complete the full scan and confirm that the 3D model and biometrics are generated without errors.
- Repeat this check with two or three different people over the next day or two.
If all of those steps produce normal results consistently, your turntable is most likely functioning correctly.
What to watch for going forward
Contact support if any of the following happen:
- The turntable shows no weight reading or a weight of zero at the start of a scan
- The weight reading appears significantly inaccurate (very high or very low)
- You see an error message related to the turntable or weight sensor
- The issue returns after previously working scans
If the weight issue returns: steps to try before contacting support
If the problem recurs, you can attempt the following before opening a ticket:
- Close out of the Styku app completely.
- Unplug the USB and power cord from the side of the turntable. Plug the USB cable back in first, followed by the power plug. Count to 60 before reconnecting.
- Restart the Styku Studio software and go to the administrator view by pressing the View Profiles button and entering your PIN code. Then press the Troubleshooting option.
- Once troubleshooting has run and confirmed everything is connected, return to the admin view and press the Tools button. Select Calibrate Weight Scale.
- Enter the weight of the person who will be standing on the turntable, hit Save and Continue, and have the person step onto the turntable when prompted. The software will adjust for the difference.
If the issue persists after calibrating, contact Styku support by submitting a ticket through the Styku business portal at https://www.styku.com/portal.
A note about missing previous scans
If you noticed that previous scans are not visible in Styku Studio after your support session, this is a separate issue. It may be related to account setup, data sync, or a software reinstall. Please open a new support ticket specifically about the missing scan history so the team can investigate without mixing it with the weight issue.
If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.
If the problem persists, contact support and include: your business location name or license key, a description of what the weight reading shows (or does not show) during the scan, approximately how many scans were completed before the issue returned, and any error messages displayed on screen.
