Why are height and date of birth inaccurate for new clients in Styku Studio, and do clients need to download the app?

In Styku Studio, height and date of birth must be entered correctly before a scan begins, because these values directly affect measurement results. Clients do not need to download the Styku mobile app to register — they can sign up using only their email address at the scanner, which is faster and still allows their profile to be set up properly.

Note: Administrators can create client profiles before scanning by going to Settings → Customer Profiles and Scan Data → Create Profile (requires email, first name, last name, birthday, sex, and height). Alternatively, clients can create their accounts ahead of time by downloading the Styku mobile app and creating their account there. When they come in to scan, they can log in directly to their account using the QR code option in the Styku Studio software — this is the fastest, easiest way to log in and start scanning.

Why Inaccurate Height and Date of Birth Cause Scan Problems

Styku Studio uses height and date of birth to calculate body measurements and health metrics. If these fields are wrong or missing, every measurement in the scan will be off.

For example, a client who is 6'1" but has 5'1" saved in their profile will receive measurements that are significantly inaccurate. This affects all downstream results, including body fat estimates and shape data.

How Clients Can Register Without Downloading the App

Clients who do not want to install the Styku mobile app can still create an account using just their email address. This is the fastest path to getting their profile — including height and date of birth — set up correctly before the scan.

  1. When prompted to register a new client in Styku Studio, choose the option to invite or register the client by email.
  2. The client provides their email address. They do not need to download the app.
  3. Once the email-only account is created, their height and date of birth can be entered into the system.
  4. Confirm that both fields are correct before starting the scan.
  5. Proceed with the scan as normal.

Alternatively, clients can create their accounts in advance using the Styku mobile app, then log in at the time of their scan using the QR code option in Styku Studio.

Before Every New Client Scan — Quick Checklist

  • Confirm the client's height is entered correctly in their profile.
  • Confirm the client's date of birth is entered correctly.
  • Complete registration before initiating the scan — corrections made after the scan will not update results from that session.

Editing Height or Date of Birth After Profile Creation

Staff can edit a client's profile — including height and date of birth — after the profile has been created. From the Studio home screen:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Customer Profiles and Scan Data.
  3. Log in as admin when prompted.
  4. Select Edit Profile.
  5. Choose the client's profile and load it.
  6. Update height, date of birth, or any other field as needed and save.

Important: Editing a profile does not retroactively correct measurements from past scans. Scans completed with incorrect height or date of birth will continue to show the original (inaccurate) results. The corrected values apply only to future scans. The most reliable approach is still to verify these fields before the very first scan.

If the problem persists, contact support through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal and include: the client's profile name or email, the incorrect height and date of birth values shown versus the correct values, the scan date and time, and your current version of Styku Studio (visible in the app settings).
