What's new in Styku Studio V5, and where can I get training?
Styku Studio V5 is a significant software update that improves your scanning workflow, gives you richer data for client consultations, and strengthens the security of your clients' information. If the new interface feels unfamiliar after the update, this article will walk you through what has changed and how to get up to speed quickly.
What's New in V5 Studio
Faster, More Reliable Scanning
- QR Code Check-In: Clients can now log in by opening the Styku mobile app and scanning a QR code displayed on the Studio screen. This replaces manual entry and speeds up the check-in process.
- Scan Checkpoint: Before every scan, a new screen prompts the client to confirm they are wearing the correct attire. This helps produce more consistent, accurate results.
- Area Detection: The software uses augmented reality to alert you if any object is within 14 inches of the turntable. This makes it much easier to catch and fix environmental issues before a scan begins.
- Cloud Sync Status: A new indicator on screen shows whether scans are still uploading to the cloud. You can wait for the green light before shutting down, so clients always receive their results in the mobile app.
Richer Client Consultation Tools
- New Dashboard: A redesigned summary screen brings together key metrics, progress charts, and body cross-section overlays in one place — making it easier to walk clients through their results.
- Posture and Alignment Analysis: New tools let you identify and discuss postural findings with clients.
- Muscle Gain Tracking and Nutritional Plans: Additional insights to support fitness and wellness goal-setting conversations with clients.
- Health Risk Indicators: The dashboard surfaces clinically validated health risk metrics — including waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, and body fat percentage — to support client education. For reference, waist circumference thresholds associated with increased disease risk are greater than 40 inches for men and greater than 35 inches for women. When communicating relative risk figures to clients, plain-language framing is recommended (for example, a 1.7x cardiovascular disease risk represents a 70% increased risk compared to baseline).
Body Composition Results Are Estimates
As with all body composition technologies, results produced by Styku Studio — including body fat percentage and lean mass — are estimates derived from 3D surface measurements and validated algorithms, not exact measurements. This is true of every non-invasive method on the market, including DEXA, hydrostatic weighing, skinfold calipers, and bioelectrical impedance. For tracking progress over time, consistency in scan conditions (time of day, hydration, clothing, posture) is more important than any single absolute number. Results should be interpreted as directional indicators of body composition change.
Stronger Data Security
V5 Studio includes backend improvements to how client scan data is stored and protected. No action is required from you, but these changes reflect Styku's ongoing commitment to keeping your clients' information secure.
