What is the Health Risks Summary in the Styku scan report?
Overview
The Health Risks Summary appears in the Wellness Information section on page one of the Styku scan report. It provides a percentage-based estimate of a client's overall risk for health-related chronic diseases based on their body composition data.
Details
What It Shows
The Health Risks Summary displays the client's estimated risk level for chronic diseases associated with excess body fat and elevated waist circumference, including:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Cancer
- Type 2 diabetes
- Respiratory disease
How Risk Is Determined
Risk is correlated with two primary factors measured by the Styku scan:
- Body fat percentage – Higher body fat is associated with increased chronic disease risk.
- Waist circumference – A larger waist circumference is independently associated with elevated health risk, particularly for cardiovascular and metabolic conditions.
Important Context for Practitioners
- Obesity is a complex medical condition with genetic, environmental, and behavioral contributors. A client's risk score should be discussed with appropriate sensitivity and context.
- The Health Risks Summary is a screening and conversation tool, not a clinical diagnosis.
- Lifestyle interventions — including a healthy diet and regular physical activity — are evidence-based strategies for reducing obesity-related health risks.
Notes
- The Health Risks Summary is one part of a broader picture presented on page one of the scan report. Use it in conjunction with body fat percentage, fat mass, lean mass, and BMR to have a complete conversation with the client.
- Page one of the report sets the foundation for reviewing the remaining pages of the scan report with the client.
If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.
