What is Shape Score and how is it calculated?

What is Shape Score and how is it calculated?

Overview

Shape Score is a single-number summary of a client's overall body shape health. It is designed to make body composition data easy to communicate during a consultation.

How Shape Score is Calculated

Shape Score is calculated from three components:

Component | What it measures

Body fat percentage | The proportion of total body mass that is fat

Muscle-fat index | Muscle in the limbs relative to body fat

Waist-to-height ratio | Abdominal size relative to overall height — a common marker of metabolic risk

Target Range

  • A score of 70 or above places a client in the "good to excellent" zone.
  • Scores below 70 indicate one or more of the three underlying metrics needs improvement.
  • The red/yellow/green tag on each component metric quickly identifies which inputs are dragging the score down.

How to Use Shape Score in a Consultation

  1. Open the Shape Score card on the Dashboard.
  2. Click into it to view the trend line, which shows whether the score is improving or declining over time.
  3. If the score has changed, review each of the three components individually to identify which factor is driving the change.
  4. Use the component breakdown to connect what the client sees on screen to concrete changes in their body composition and shape.

Notes

  • Shape Score is most useful as a conversation tool — it gives clients a simple number to track rather than requiring them to interpret multiple individual metrics.
  • Because the score is composite, a client may have a lower score due to a single weak metric even if the others are healthy. Use it as a starting point, then review the individual metrics to identify what to address.
  • A declining score can be quickly diagnosed by reviewing the three components; not all three need to change for the overall score to shift.
  • Shape Score trend data requires at least two scans.

If the problem persists, contact support and include: the client profile name, the number of scans on file, and a screenshot of the Shape Score display.

Applies to: All Styku configurations.
