What is Express Mode and how do I turn it on?

What Express Mode does

Express Mode is a setting in Styku Studio V5 that changes the after-scan customer experience to a streamlined auto-logout flow. It is designed for kiosk-style or high-throughput scanning workflows where staff do not need to review results on-screen with each client.

When Express Mode is on, after a scan completes:

  • The customer is not shown an option to review the scan or see scan details on the screen.
  • A window appears telling them their results will soon be available on their phone (via the Styku mobile app) or by email.
  • A 30-second countdown begins.
  • When the timer ends, the customer is automatically logged out of Studio.

When Express Mode is off (the default), the customer is shown the standard after-scan review screen and remains logged in until they log out manually.

How to turn Express Mode on or off

  1. Open Styku Studio on the scanner laptop.
  2. Open the Settings menu.
  3. Select the Scanner Hardware section.
  4. Toggle Express Mode on (or off).
  5. Close Settings. The change applies to the next scan session.

When to use Express Mode

Use Express Mode | Leave Express Mode off

Kiosk or self-serve stations | Consultative settings where staff reviews results live with the client

Gym floors, lobbies, high-throughput environments | Medspa / clinical consultations

Customers who will view results on their phone or by email | Customers who expect an on-screen walkthrough at the scanner

Express Mode replaces the older Self-Scan auto-start feature

Earlier versions of Styku Studio included a Self-Scan auto-start option, which would automatically begin a scan as soon as the customer stood on the turntable in the correct pose. That feature has been deprecated and is not available in Studio V5. Customers can no longer start a scan by stepping on the turntable.

Express Mode is the current self-serve workflow. It does not auto-start the scan — the customer still initiates the scan via the on-screen prompts after logging in — but it streamlines the after-scan experience so the station resets quickly for the next customer.

Availability

Express Mode is available on all Styku plans at no additional cost. There is no feature gate or subscription tier requirement.

If the problem persists, contact support through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal and include: your Styku Studio version (visible in Settings), a screenshot of the Settings → Scanner Hardware section, and a description of the behavior you expect vs. what you are seeing.
