Styku Turntable Weight Scale: Troubleshooting Inaccurate, Inconsistent, or Undetected Weight Readings (V5 and V6 Turntables)

Styku Turntable Weight Scale: Troubleshooting Inaccurate, Inconsistent, or Undetected Weight Readings (V5 and V6 Turntables)

Use this article if your Styku turntable is showing inaccurate weight, zero/blank weight, freezing at the weight step, losing calibration after an update, or displaying a weight sensor error. Work through the sections in order — skip any you have already completed.

Applies to: V5 Turntable (X2 Pro, S100 — Studio V4/V5) and V6 Turntable (X2L, X2, X2 Pro — Studio V5). Steps marked [V5 only] or [V6 only] apply to one generation; all others apply to both. V5 max capacity: 250 kg / 550 lbs; min scan weight: 50 lbs; client height range: 54–77 in.

Section 1: Quick Environmental Checks

These factors cause weight errors that no amount of calibration will permanently fix.

  1. Place the turntable on a flat, level, hard floor — not carpet. It should not rock when you press different edges.
  2. Remove all objects from the platform before each scan — the scale zeros at scan start.
  3. Do not stand on the platform until Styku Studio prompts you.
  4. The client should stand centered, feet shoulder-width apart, weight evenly distributed, arms slightly away from sides.
  5. If you recently moved the scanner, recalibrate before using it at the new location.

Section 2: Power-Cycle the Turntable

  1. Close Styku Studio completely.
  2. Unplug the USB cable, then the power cord from the turntable.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord first, then the USB cable.
  5. Wait for initialization, reopen Styku Studio, and attempt a test scan.

Connection order matters. Always reconnect power before USB.

Section 3: Verify Cable Connections

Confirm the power cord is firmly seated at both ends, the USB cable is fully inserted at the turntable and laptop, and the USB cable is connected directly to the laptop (no hub or extension). Styku Studio should be open before reconnecting.

Section 4: Update Windows

Pending Windows updates can interfere with USB communication. Unplug all USB devices, install all updates via Settings → Windows Update, restart the laptop, reconnect cables, and test again.

Section 5: Run Troubleshooting in Styku Studio

Press View Profiles, enter your PIN, then press Troubleshooting. Let it run to completion to confirm all components are communicating before proceeding to recalibration.

Section 6: Recalibrate the Weight Scale

You need a reliable external reference scale and a person whose weight you know.

  1. In the administrator view, press Tools → Calibrate Weight Scale.
  2. Enter the person's weight from your reference scale and press Save and Continue.
  3. Have the person step onto the turntable when prompted. The software calculates and applies an adjustment.
  4. Optionally press Calibrate manually to fine-tune with the slider.
  5. Press Save and Continue to complete.

Ensure the turntable is level and nothing is touching the platform during calibration.

Section 7: Verify the Weight Reading

After calibration, press Tools → Use Weight Scale and take a reading. Compare to your reference scale. A difference of 1–2 lbs is normal; a larger discrepancy means calibration should be repeated or a hardware issue may be present.

Section 8: Configure "Weigh While Scanning" (Post-Update or Replacement)

After a V5 update or turntable replacement, the Weigh while scanning setting may reset. Go to Settings, locate the toggle, and set it on (use built-in scale) or off (enter weight manually each scan). If waiting for a replacement turntable, confirm this setting once the new unit arrives.

If the scale is consistently freezing or failing after the steps above, set this to off as a workaround — manual weight entry appears in scan reports identically to automatic readings. When disabled, the software prompts you to type the client's weight during each scan.

If a scan is currently frozen: Cancel the scan, close and relaunch Styku Studio, disable the setting, then start a new scan.

Section 9: Edit Weight on a Completed Scan

If a scan was saved with the wrong weight, you can correct it without rescanning:

  1. Press View Profiles, enter your PIN, go to Settings → Customer Profiles and Scan Data.
  2. Log in with your Administrator credentials and choose Edit Scan Data.
  3. Search for the client, select their profile, select the scan, and update the weight value.
  4. Press Continue to save.

Section 10: Test the Scale With a Known Weight Object

If you are unsure whether the issue is hardware or stance-related, place a known-weight object (e.g., a dumbbell) centered on the turntable and take 2–3 readings.

  • Consistent for the object but inconsistent for people: Likely a stance issue (see Section 1).
  • Inconsistent for the object too: The scale hardware may have a fault — contact support.

If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.

If the problem persists, contact support via the Styku Business Portal at https://www.styku.com/portal and include: your scanner model, a description of the weight issue, which sections above you completed, and any error messages shown in Styku Studio.
