Styku Studio is blocked by Windows Smart App Control or won't install
Styku Studio is a Windows-only desktop application distributed through the Styku website — it is not available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, the Microsoft Store, or any other app marketplace. If you are seeing a security warning during installation, it is most commonly Windows Smart App Control or Windows Defender flagging the installer before it recognizes the software. These warnings can be bypassed safely.
If Windows says the app is "unsafe" or blocks the installer
Windows Smart App Control (introduced in Windows 11) and Windows Defender can flag software from trusted but unfamiliar publishers. This is common with B2B desktop software that isn't distributed through the Microsoft Store.
To run the installer anyway:
- Locate the Styku Studio installer file you downloaded (it will be a
.exefile, typically in your Downloads folder). - Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- If Windows shows a "Windows protected your PC" or "Smart App Control blocked an app" message, click More info (or Show more) and then Run anyway.
- Proceed with the installation.
Note: Only do this if you downloaded the installer from the official Styku source (your welcome email, Business Portal at styku.com/portal, or a link provided by Styku support). If you received the file from an unknown source, do not bypass the warning.
If the warning still prevents installation, you may need to temporarily adjust your Smart App Control settings:
- Open Windows Security (search for it in the Start menu).
- Go to App & browser control → Smart App Control settings.
- Switch Smart App Control to Evaluation or Off temporarily.
- Run the Styku installer.
- Turn Smart App Control back on after installation is complete.
If Styku Studio keeps showing an update prompt in a loop or crashing
If the software keeps prompting you to update but never finishes — or shuts down and repeats the same message — Smart App Control is most likely blocking the update from completing. Follow the steps above to disable Smart App Control, then restart the laptop and reopen Styku Studio. The update should complete without looping. You only need to do this once.
If Smart App Control is already off and the problem continues, download and reinstall the latest version from the Styku software download page. Disconnect your turntable and sensor before running the installer.
If you can't find the app in the App Store or Google Play
Styku Studio is not available on the Apple App Store, Mac App Store, or Google Play Store. It is a Windows-only desktop application.
- For scanning: Install Styku Studio on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 laptop. Download the software from the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal or from the link in your original welcome/activation email.
- For clients viewing scan results on a phone or iPad: Clients use the Styku mobile app (available on iOS and Android) to view their results — but the mobile app is for viewing only, not for running scans. See [How do I download and get started with the Styku mobile app?] for links.
Task | Where to get it
Run 3D body scans | Styku Studio on Windows laptop (styku.com/portal)
View scan results (client) | Styku mobile app on iOS or Android
If you see "app not available in your region"
This message appears when trying to find Styku Studio on an App Store in a region where the Styku mobile app is not yet available, or when looking for Studio on a non-Windows device. Styku Studio cannot be installed from an App Store in any region. Download it directly from the Styku Business Portal.
If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.
If you continue to have trouble installing Styku Studio after following these steps, submit a support ticket through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal and include: your Windows version, a screenshot of the error or block message, and whether you downloaded the file from the Business Portal or another source.
Applies to: Styku Studio V5, Windows 10/11
