Styku Consignment Buyback Program: How It Works and How to Return Your Scanner

Styku Consignment Buyback Program: How It Works and How to Return Your Scanner

Styku offers a Consignment Buyback Program for customers who want to discontinue use of their scanner. You agree to let Styku sell your unit on your behalf and receive a fixed payment of $2,000 per unit once the scanner ships to the new owner. Styku handles finding a buyer, all negotiations, return risk, and outbound shipping to the new owner.

This article covers both how the program works and how to physically return your unit once you are enrolled.

Part 1: Program Overview

What the Program Includes

When you enroll in the consignment program, Styku handles the following on your behalf:

  • Finding and negotiating with a new buyer
  • All outbound shipping logistics to the new owner
  • All risk of return or buyer issues
  • Recertification of the hardware
  • A guaranteed $2,000 payout per unit upon shipment to the new owner

Important Things to Know Before You Begin

  • The payout is $2,000 per unit, not per order. If you enroll two scanners, you receive $2,000 for each — $4,000 total.
  • Participation is not guaranteed. Each case is reviewed individually. Submitting a request does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
  • Your subscription is handled separately. Canceling your subscription and enrolling in the consignment program are two separate steps. If you have not yet requested subscription cancellation, contact the Styku support team when you submit your consignment form so both can be handled together. Cancellation stops future billing.
  • Submit one consignment form per unit. If you have multiple scanners, submit a separate form for each unit you are enrolling.
  • There is no guaranteed timeline. How long it takes for your unit to sell depends on when a buyer is found. Styku will keep you informed as the process moves forward.
  • Do not ship your unit until Styku confirms you are cleared to do so and provides shipping labels.

Part 2: The Enrollment Process

Step 1: Contact Styku to Express Interest

Contact Styku Support or your Sales representative to let them know you are interested in the consignment program. Support will gather background on your situation and connect you with the Sales team to discuss eligibility and next steps.

  • Submit a ticket via the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal
  • Or contact your Styku Account Executive directly — they can walk you through the process and provide the consignment form link

Step 2: Submit the Consignment Agreement Form

Complete the Styku Consignment Program form to formally authorize Styku to sell your unit on your behalf. Submit one form for each unit you are enrolling. Your Sales representative will provide or confirm the form link when your case is reviewed.

Step 3: Send Photos of Your Equipment

Styku requires photos of the equipment before proceeding. These photos allow the team to assess the physical and aesthetic condition of each unit.

Take clear, well-lit photos of all surfaces of each component:

  • Camera tower — front, back, and both sides
  • Laptop computer — screen, keyboard, top cover, bottom, and all sides
  • Turntable — top surface, underside, and all sides
  • All cables and accessories

Attach the photos directly to your support ticket reply, or share them via a link (such as Google Drive).

Step 4: Complete a Functionality Verification (System Check)

A Styku support team member will schedule a brief remote session with you to run a test scan and confirm the system is in working order and undamaged. Be prepared to have someone available at your location who can operate the scanner during this call.

This step must be completed before the unit can move forward in the program. Eligibility is not confirmed until Styku has completed the system check and approved the unit.

Step 5: Styku Re-Certifies Your Unit and Finds a Buyer

Once the functionality check is complete, Styku's service team officially re-certifies the hardware. Styku then lists and manages the sale. You do not need to do anything during this step. You hold the equipment at your location until Styku contacts you with shipping instructions.

Tip: Do not discard original packaging if you still have it, as it may be useful for safe transport when shipping time comes.

Step 6: Styku Arranges Shipment — You Receive Payment

When a buyer is confirmed, Styku's logistics team will coordinate return shipping and provide you with prepaid shipping labels and packaging instructions. Once you ship the unit and it reaches the new owner, Styku sends your $2,000 per unit payment.

Part 3: Returning Your Unit — Step-by-Step Instructions

This section applies to customers who have been cleared by Styku to ship their consignment unit back. Do not begin this process until Styku has provided prepaid return shipping labels.

Step 1: Open or Continue Your Support Ticket

If you have not already done so, contact Styku Support to initiate or continue the return process by submitting a ticket through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal.

Step 2: Gather All Scanner Components

Make sure you have all components and accessories ready to return. Per Styku's consignment agreement, the unit must include all required components to pass inspection. This includes:

  • Camera tower (with base plate removed — see Step 3)
  • Laptop computer
  • Turntable and turntable power adapter
  • All USB cables
  • Laptop stand
  • Setup mat
  • Any other accessories included with your unit

Step 3: Package the Unit Securely

⚠️ Important — Packing Requirements: Per Styku's consignment agreement, you must use a FedEx or UPS professional packaging service unless Styku has specifically authorized an alternative method. Original packaging is not required. You are responsible for all packing costs.

⚠️ Liability Warning: Improper packing is a leading cause of transit damage. You assume all liability arising from non-professional packing, including units damaged beyond recovery due to packing issues. Units damaged beyond recovery due to packing issues will not be accepted into the program.

Follow these packing steps:

  1. Remove the base plate from the scanner tower and pack it separately. This is a required step per the consignment agreement.
  2. Use a FedEx Office, UPS Store, or another authorized professional packaging service to pack each component.
  3. Pack each component separately with sufficient padding on all sides to prevent movement during transit.
  4. Before sealing and shipping, photograph all packed boxes and submit those photos to your support ticket. Per Styku's consignment shipping policy, this is required prior to shipment.

Step 4: Attach Return Labels and Ship

Attach the prepaid return shipping labels provided by Styku Support to the outside of each box. Then:

  • Drop off the packages at any FedEx or UPS location, or
  • Request a pickup — let Support know you are ready and they can coordinate a pickup at your address

⚠️ Risk of Loss in Transit: Per Styku's consignment ownership policy, you bear all risk of loss, theft, or damage from the moment the unit leaves your possession until Styku confirms warehouse receipt. Ensure the unit is professionally packed to protect against transit damage.

Step 5: Confirm Shipment with Support

Once the unit has been shipped, reply to your support ticket with the tracking number(s) so Styku can monitor the shipment and confirm receipt.

Part 4: What Happens After Styku Receives the Unit

Inspection Timeline

Per Styku's consignment inspection policy, Styku will inspect the returned unit within five (5) business days of warehouse receipt to confirm it is fully functional, free from major cosmetic damage, and includes all required components.

Inspection Outcomes

  • If the unit passes inspection: It will be accepted into the program. Styku bears risk of loss from that point forward.
  • If the unit fails inspection (e.g., missing parts, severe cosmetic damage, functional defects, or shipping damage): Styku will document the failure with photographic evidence and return the unit to you. A $150 USD return shipping fee applies, and you are responsible for that cost. Any failed unit not reclaimed within 60 days may be disposed of by Styku without liability.

Inspection results are final.
