Styku AI Health Screen: Chronic Disease Risk, Metabolic Syndrome, and ALSTI

Overview

Styku's AI Health Screen estimates a client's risk for chronic diseases by analyzing anthropometric measurements — body shape metrics derived from the 3D scan — and comparing them against an ideal scan baseline. This approach is grounded in peer-reviewed science and endorsed by leading health organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which recognize anthropometric measures such as waist-to-hip ratio as established indicators of chronic disease risk.

How Anthropometric Risk Assessment Works

The AI Health Screen translates 3D scan data into a set of body shape metrics. These measurements are well-established by scientific research as predictors of various chronic conditions. By comparing a client's measurements to an ideal reference, the system flags areas of elevated risk in a clear, actionable format.

Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome is characterized as a "perfect storm" of compounding risk factors — including high blood pressure and excess abdominal fat — that together significantly elevate the risk of serious health conditions such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

Styku's algorithm predicts the presence of Metabolic Syndrome with up to 92% accuracy, making it one of the most clinically significant outputs of the Healthpass health screen.

ALSTI — Appendicular Lean Soft Tissue Index

ALSTI (Appendicular Lean Soft Tissue Index) measures the amount of muscle in the arms and legs relative to a person's height. It is a key marker associated with sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) and overall muscular strength. Tracking ALSTI helps identify clients who may be at risk for functional decline, even if their overall body weight appears normal.

Role of At-Home Blood Testing Kits

While the 3D scan and anthropometric analysis reveal external body shape risk indicators, the integrated at-home blood testing kits extend the assessment to internal biological markers — such as blood sugar and triglycerides — that correlate directly with the risks flagged by the scan. Together, the scan and blood test provide a more complete picture of a client's metabolic health.
