Starting a Scan Session: Login, Profile Setup, and Pre-Scan Requirements
Overview
A successful Styku scan session depends on three things done correctly in sequence: secure login, proper client profile setup, and correct client preparation before the scan begins. Skipping or rushing any of these steps can compromise scan accuracy or require a re-scan.
Starting a Session: QR Authentication
The fastest and most secure way to start a scan session is to scan the on-screen QR code and authenticate through the Styku Mobile App. This method is faster than manual login and ties the session directly to the client's existing profile securely.
Why Styku Uses a Profile-Based Model
Styku operates on a profile-based scanning model for two reasons:
- Privacy and security — each client's body data is stored under their own profile, not shared or exposed to other users.
- Cross-location access — a client's scan history and metrics are accessible under one profile regardless of which Styku-enabled location they visit.
This means staff should never scan a client without first ensuring the correct profile is active.
Client Preparation Requirements
Before a client steps onto the turntable, two preparation steps are essential:
Attire
Clients must wear form-fitting clothing. Loose or baggy clothing creates visual noise for the scanner and degrades the accuracy of circumference and body composition measurements, particularly around the waist.
Hair
Clients must secure hair off the neck. Hair resting on the neck obscures the neck region, which directly affects neck and waist circumference accuracy — measurements that feed into body composition calculations.
Capturing Body Weight
The Styku turntable has a built-in weight scale. When the client steps onto the turntable, weight is recorded automatically as a separate step in the scan workflow, before the rotation begins. No external scale or manual entry is required under normal operation.
If the turntable does not detect weight (rare — usually a calibration or hardware issue), Studio falls back to a manual entry prompt so the scan can proceed. Recurring manual-entry situations indicate a turntable weight scale problem and should be investigated separately.
Handling Artifacts and Poor Scan Quality
If a completed scan shows artifacts or predicted measurements that appear incorrect — commonly caused by improper clothing or posture — the correct response is to flag the scan and re-scan the client, ensuring attire and posture guidance is followed before repeating. Do not present artifact-affected results as valid measurements.
Confirming Sync Before Closing
After a scan is complete, staff must confirm that the Cloud Sync indicator shows uploads are completed before closing the laptop or exiting the software. Only after a successful sync will results appear in the client's Styku Mobile App.
If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.
If the problem persists, contact support through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal and include: the Styku Studio version installed, the specific step where the session workflow stalls, and any error message shown on screen.
