Known Issues and Common Feedback: Styku Mobile App
Known Issues and Common Feedback: Styku Mobile App
Overview
The following issues and concerns have been reported by Styku Mobile App users in app store reviews. Support agents should be aware of these when handling related tickets.
Body Fat Percentage Accuracy
Some facility operators and clients have reported that body fat percentage figures displayed in the Styku Mobile App appear higher than expected. This is almost always explained by the difference between body composition models:
- The Styku mobile app uses the Advanced model exclusively. The Advanced model is a 3-compartment model (fat, lean, bone) validated against DEXA-Hologic with a correlation of 0.95+ for fat mass. It is validated for adults 18 and older.
- The Advanced model typically reports body fat 8–10 percentage points higher than the Basic model. If a facility's Styku Studio desktop software is set to the Basic (BIA-calibrated) model, clients will see different numbers in the app vs. printed/emailed reports generated from Studio.
- This is not a bug — it reflects the difference between a DEXA-validated algorithm and a BIA-calibrated algorithm.
What to communicate to affected users:
- Explain that the mobile app uses the Advanced (DEXA-validated) model, which produces higher but more clinically accurate body fat readings than BIA-based tools.
- If the facility uses the Basic model in Studio, the discrepancy between the app and printed reports is expected. Switching Studio to the Advanced model will align the numbers.
- Advise users to focus on consistent trends over time using the same model, rather than comparing absolute values between different measurement methods.
Subscription Pricing for Client Access
Some operators have raised concerns about the cost of giving clients access to app premium features. Feedback includes requests for bundled client subscriptions included with existing facility plans.
What to communicate to affected users:
- Direct operators to the current pricing and packaging details for client app access (refer to the Pricing team or Client Portal for the most up-to-date tiers).
- Acknowledge the feedback and note that pricing structure concerns have been raised by multiple users.
- Remind operators that all clients can view their scan data for free — Premium is optional and not required to access scan results.
Positive Feedback to Note
- Users consistently praise the convenience of accessing scan results through the app instead of relying on emailed reports.
- The posture analysis feature — which shows postural deviations with specific measurements (e.g., hip shift in inches) — receives particularly strong positive feedback from personal trainers and clinicians.
- The 3D model visualization and detailed measurement tracking are frequently cited as standout features.
