I paid for my used Styku scanner — how do I get my license key and activate?
Your onboarding fees have been processed and your license key has been issued. This article walks you through activating Styku Studio and completing your initial setup.
About Your License Key
Your license key is a string of letters and numbers (format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). It was included in the message from Styku support. You can also find it any time in the Styku Business Portal under the Software License section — log in at styku.com/portal.
Keep it somewhere safe — you will need it if you ever reinstall the software or replace the laptop.
Important: Your Account Is Fresh — The Prior Owner Is Gone
Your account is completely separate from the previous owner's account. Styku's security audit and account activation process clears all prior owner data and permissions before issuing your license. You do not need to do anything to separate your account from the previous owner's.
When you activate Styku Studio with your license key, a new scanner record is created automatically in Styku's system under your account. The prior owner's scanner record is not transferred to you and will not appear in your account.
Step 1: Create Your Business Portal Account
- Go to www.styku.com/welcome and create your account using your business email address.
- Wait approximately one minute for provisioning.
- Log in at www.styku.com/portal.
The Business Portal is where you access training, billing, your license key, and support. Any staff member at your facility can create their own portal account.
Step 2: Activate Styku Studio
Styku Studio should already be installed on the scanner laptop — it comes pre-installed from the factory. If it needs to be reinstalled, download the latest version here:
You can also find the download link in the Styku Business Portal under the Software License section.
To activate:
- Power on the scanner laptop and connect it to the internet — an active connection is required for activation.
- Open Styku Studio from the desktop icon.
- When prompted, create your administrator account (username and password). This is your Studio admin login — it is separate from your Business Portal login.
- Enter your license key exactly as issued, including dashes.
- Complete the on-screen activation steps.
Once activated, Styku Studio will show your account name and the scanner will be ready to use.
Note: Each license key can only be active on one computer at a time. If you later replace the laptop or reinstall Windows, contact Styku Support through the Business Portal to transfer the activation.

Step 4: Complete Your Onboarding Checklist
In the Business Portal you will find a six-task onboarding checklist:
- Attend an orientation — weekly webinars at styku.com/orientation
- Add team members — invite staff so they can access training and support
- Complete Certification Course 1 — Software Features, Scan Analysis, and Reports (13 lessons)
- Complete Certification Course 2 — Health Assessments and Body Composition (12 lessons); passing unlocks the Advanced Body Composition Model on your system
- Set up your scanner hardware — assembly and placement guide in the portal
- Complete your first scan — plus two additional scans to verify precision
Troubleshooting: "Unable to connect to the license server"
This error means the laptop has lost its internet connection. To fix:
- Press the Search button in the Windows taskbar and type wifi settings.
- Confirm the Wi-Fi switch is On and the laptop is connected to a network.
- If you are away from your regular location, hotspot your mobile phone.
- Relaunch Styku Studio and try again.
