How do I use Styku Studio V5 after the update?
Styku Studio V5 is a major update with a redesigned interface and a new scan-start process. If the software looks unfamiliar after updating, this article will walk you through the key changes and help you get back to scanning quickly. Full training resources are also available in the Styku Business Portal.
How to Start a Scan in V5
The biggest change most users notice is how scans are initiated. In V5, you start every scan from the main dashboard screen — not by opening a client profile first.
From the main screen, you have two options:
- QR Code login — Ask your client to open the Styku mobile app on their phone and tap the QR code icon. Hold their phone up to the camera on the laptop screen to scan the code. This is the fastest, easiest way to log in and start scanning.
- Email login — Type the client's email address (the one linked to their Styku profile) into the field on the main screen. If a profile already exists for that email, V5 will find it and let you proceed.
Important: Do not open a profile through View Profiles (Requires Admin PIN) if you want to start a new scan. That area is for viewing existing scans only — the option to start a new scan is not available from there.
Note on email entry: Clients are not required to verify their email address by clicking a link or checking their inbox. Simply entering their email and confirming is enough to proceed.
Note on creating profiles: Administrators can create profiles before scanning by going to Settings → Customer Profiles and Scan Data → Create Profile (requires email, first name, last name, birthday, sex, and height). Alternatively, clients can create their own accounts by downloading the Styku mobile app and registering there — when they come in to scan, they can log in directly using the QR code option described above.
Where Did Client Profiles Go?
Client profile data is still there — it has not been deleted. To view a client's existing scans:
- Enter the client's email on the main screen, or use the View Profiles option with your Admin PIN.
- Select the client from the list.
- Their scan history and biometrics will load in the Dashboard view.
Where Is the Health Module?
The separate Health module from V4 no longer appears as its own section. In V5, health risk information — including the Health Score and health risk indicators — has been moved into the Dashboard view inside each client's profile.
To access it:
- Open a client's profile.
- Navigate to the Dashboard tab.
- Look for the Health Score and associated risk metrics in that view.
If you see the Health Risk Factors section but it appears locked, contact support — this may be a license or account setting that needs to be enabled on your account.
What Happened to Footprint Alignment?
In V5, the manual footprint reset option that was available in V4 has been removed. The system now guides client positioning through on-screen prompts during scan setup instead.
For best results, guide your client to:
- Step onto the center of the turntable
- Stand naturally with feet together, facing forward toward the camera tower
- Follow the on-screen positioning prompts before the scan begins
What Else Is New in V5?
Here are the main changes at a glance:
- New scan start flow — QR code or email entry from the main screen (described above)
- New Dashboard — All key metrics, progress comparisons, and health data in one place
- Scan Checkpoint — A pre-scan step that confirms the client's attire and position for better accuracy
- Automatic before/after comparison — V5 loads previous scans alongside the new one immediately after scanning
- Posture Module — Analyzes shoulder and hip alignment
- New metrics — Appendicular lean mass, visceral fat area, and Shape Score added
- Enhanced privacy — Each client's data is tied to their own account and protected by a PIN
Working with Scans and Reports in V5
After opening a client's scan, use the Share Results button to print, email, or save reports. You can customize which pages appear in reports through Settings → Reports and Sharing → Advanced. Scans can also be exported to OBJ or STL 3D file formats. See the Related Resources below for detailed instructions on viewing 3D scans, sharing reports, customizing report pages, and exporting scan files.
Training Resources
Styku provides training materials to help you and your team get comfortable with V5:
- Log in to the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal to access training videos, guides, and the V5 scanning guide
- Look for the "What's New in Styku Studio V5" and "How to Scan in Styku Studio V5" articles in the Help Center — both include video walkthroughs
If you would like a live walkthrough with a support specialist, submit a support ticket through the Business Portal explaining that you need a V5 orientation walkthrough. A specialist will walk through the new interface with you, answer your questions, and run a test scan together. The free V5 training course at styku.com/stykustudioedu is also available (Modules 4–10 cover V5-specific features).
If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.
If the problem persists, contact support and include: your Styku Studio version number (visible in the top corner of the app), the email address used to log in as administrator, a description of which specific step or feature you cannot locate, and a screenshot if possible.
Applies to: Styku Studio V5, all Styku scanner models compatible with V5 (X2L, X2, X2 Pro)
