How do I train my team after an unexpected Styku Studio V5 update?

How do I train my team after an unexpected Styku Studio V5 update?

We're sorry for the disruption an unannounced update may have caused your team. The fastest path forward is to access the V5 training course through the Styku Business Portal, which walks your staff through every part of the new interface. The information below also covers the most common questions that come up after the V5 update.

Step 1: Access V5 Training Resources

  1. Open a web browser and go to the Styku Business Portal.
  2. Log in with your administrator credentials.
  3. Navigate to the Training section.
  4. Open the Styku Studio V5 course and share the link with your staff.

We recommend having all staff who operate the scanner complete this course before their next scheduled scan appointment.

Step 2: Understand What Changed for Your Members

Member access — app not strictly required

Members do not have to download the Styku mobile app to access their scan results. If a member prefers not to use the app, they can sign in at the Styku mobile app or web viewer using the email address tied to their previous scans.

The $99.99 premium prompt in the app

This prompt appears inside the Styku mobile app and is directed at end-users, not your business. Here's what your staff should know:

  • The core features — viewing 3D scans, biometrics, and progress — are free for members.
  • The $99.99 option is for a premium subscription with additional features. Members are offered a 7-day free trial and are not charged immediately.
  • If a member signs up for the trial and wants to cancel, they do so through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Styku does not process these payments directly.
  • You can let members know this prompt is optional and unrelated to the scan service your facility provides.

Staff questions about body composition results

After a software update, staff often receive increased questions from members about how scan results are calculated. A few accurate points your team should be prepared to communicate:

  • All body composition results are estimates, not exact measurements. Every non-invasive method — including 3D scanning, DEXA, hydrostatic weighing, skinfold calipers, and bioelectrical impedance — uses equations and algorithms to estimate internal composition from external or indirect measurements. Styku follows the same scientific principles, using 3D surface measurements and validated algorithms to estimate fat mass, lean mass, and related metrics.
  • For tracking progress over time, consistency in scan conditions (time of day, hydration, clothing, posture) is more important than any single absolute number. Results should be interpreted as directional indicators of body composition change.
  • Key metrics members may ask about include body fat percentage (the percentage of total body weight composed of fat tissue), visceral fat (fat surrounding the internal organs, associated with elevated cardiovascular and metabolic risk), and waist circumference. Clinically recognized waist circumference risk thresholds are greater than 40 inches for men and greater than 35 inches for women.

Step 3: Manage Disruption to Your Schedule

If your team had to reschedule appointments due to the update, here are a few tips to get back on track:

  • Prioritize rescheduled members first.
  • Use a brief staff huddle — 10 to 15 minutes — to walk through the new scan flow together before the next appointment.
  • The V5 training course includes a walkthrough of the full scan process from start to finish.

Step 4: Submit a Support Ticket for Remaining Questions

If you have specific questions the training course doesn't answer — including questions about your contract or how future updates will be communicated — contact the support team directly.

  1. Log in to the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal.
  2. Click Submit a Ticket and complete the form.

The target response time is 1 business day.

If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.

If the problem persists, contact support and include: your scanner's license key, the name of your Styku Business Portal account, a description of which specific V5 features or workflows are causing confusion for your staff, and any error messages or unexpected prompts your team is seeing.

Applies to: Styku Studio V5, all Styku scanner configurations
