How do I start a scan in Styku Studio?

Overview

Styku Studio uses a profile-based scanning model. Each client logs in before scanning so their results are tied to a single profile — visible across locations, in the Studio software, and in the Styku mobile app. This protects client privacy and eliminates manual data entry on your device.

Steps

  1. Open Styku Studio. The home screen displays a QR code and login options.

  2. Log the client in using one of two methods:

    • QR Code (recommended): The client opens their Styku mobile app and scans the on-screen QR code. Authentication happens on their phone — no typing required on your laptop or tablet.
    • Email Address: Select Scan with Email Address and type the client's email. New users will create a profile; returning users will continue under their existing profile.
  3. Confirm the client is logged in. The software will display a welcome screen. Tap Continue to proceed.

  4. Allow the software to run its pre-scan check. Styku Studio automatically verifies the sensor and turntable connection before scanning begins.

  5. Check scan attire and hair:

    • Client should wear form-fitting clothing.
    • Hair must be secured up and off the neck.
    • Loose or baggy clothing and hair left down can distort circumference measurements, body composition estimates, and neck measurements.
  6. Have the client step onto the turntable for a body weight measurement.

  7. Position the client: facing forward, standing still, arms slightly away from the body.

  8. Follow the voice and on-screen prompts. The scan will count down and then begin rotating. Keep conversation to a minimum — movement and talking can introduce measurement artifacts.

  9. While results process, use the built-in education cards to explain what the 3D results mean and why tracking body shape matters.

  10. Accept the scan or rescan if needed. Once processing is complete, choose:

    • Accept Scan — confirms results and moves on.
    • Scan Again — if the result looks poor or scanning procedures were not followed correctly.
  11. After accepting, choose your next step:

    • Log Out immediately to keep high-volume sessions moving. The client's PDF and mobile app data will sync automatically.
    • View Scan Results to walk through results together during a consult.

Notes

  • The QR code login method turns your Styku scanner into a kiosk-style experience, improving throughput and client privacy.
  • Encourage all clients to download the Styku mobile app before their appointment to use QR code login and receive scan results.
  • The client's results will appear in their mobile app once cloud sync completes (typically within a few minutes on good bandwidth). Do not close the software or laptop lid until the Cloud Sync indicator shows no activity.
