How do I install and activate Styku Studio software on my computer?
How do I install and activate Styku Studio software on my computer?
Your Styku scanner laptop comes with the Styku Studio software already pre-installed, so in most cases you do not need to download or install anything. If you are setting up on a replacement Windows laptop, or need to reinstall the software, follow the steps below.
What You Need Before You Start
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 laptop or PC (Styku Studio does not run on iPads, iPhones, Macs, or Android devices)
- Your license key — printed on the user guide included in your scanner shipment, and also available in the Styku Business Portal - Styku Business Portal
- An active internet connection (required for activation and syncing)
Step 1 — Download Styku Studio (if needed)
If the software is not already installed, download the latest version of Styku Studio from the link provided in your welcome email or by logging in to the Styku Business Portal and navigating to the Software License section. You can also download it directly from here: Software Download Link
Step 2 — Run the Installer
- Locate the downloaded installer file (it will be a
.exefile). - Double-click the file to launch the installer.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
- When installation is complete, launch Styku Studio from the desktop shortcut.
Step 3 — Create Your Administrator Account
- When Styku Studio opens for the first time, select Create Account.
- Enter your name, business email address, and a password.
- Complete the account creation steps.
Step 4 — Enter Your License Key
- After logging in, you will be prompted to activate the software.
- Enter your license key exactly as it appears — it is a 25-character code found on the user guide in your shipment or in the Styku Business Portal.
- Click Activate.
- If activation is successful, you will be taken to the main Styku Studio dashboard.
Step 5 — Connect Your Hardware
Before your first scan, make sure the scanner is fully connected:
- Plug the camera tower USB cable into your laptop.
- Plug the turntable USB cable into your laptop.
- Plug the turntable power adapter into a wall outlet (avoid power strips).
- Confirm the turntable's power adapter LED is lit.
Styku Studio will detect the hardware automatically when it is connected and powered on.
Step 6 — Complete Your Training (Recommended)
Before scanning your first client, Styku strongly recommends completing the free training courses in Styku Academy, available through the Styku Business Portal. There are two courses:
- Scanner operation training
- Body composition system training
These courses will help you and your team get the best results from your scanner from day one.
Reinstalling After a Crash or on a New Computer
If your computer crashed or you are setting up Styku Studio on a different Windows machine, the process is the same as a fresh install with one extra step:
- Download and reinstall Styku Studio using the link in Step 1 above.
- Request a license reset. Because a license can only be active on one computer at a time, the previous activation must be cleared before the new machine can activate. Submit a license reset request through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal.
- Open Styku Studio, log in with your account email and password, and enter your license key when prompted.
Your scan data is stored on Styku's servers and will not be lost — your client profiles and scans will reappear once activation completes.
Installing on an Additional Computer (Viewing License)
If you want to install Styku Studio on a second Windows computer for viewing scan data only (for example, a back-office machine), you'll need a separate viewing license key. Request one through the Styku Business Portal and Styku will generate it for you. Viewing licenses do not allow scanning; only the active scanner-bound license can capture scans.
Important Notes
- Styku Studio only runs on Windows. It is not compatible with iPads, iPhones, or Mac computers.
- A license key can only be active on one computer at a time. If you switch to a new laptop, request a license reset through the Styku Business Portal before activating on the new device.
- An internet connection is required for license activation and scan syncing. Offline scanning is not supported.
- If your laptop came with the scanner, the software is already installed and you only need to activate it with your license key.
- Administrators can create client profiles before scanning by going to Settings → Customer Profiles and Scan Data → Create Profile (requires email, first name, last name, birthday, sex, and height). Alternatively, clients can create their accounts ahead of time by downloading the Styku mobile app and creating their account there. When they come in to scan, they can log in directly to their account using the QR code option in Styku Studio — the fastest and easiest way to log in and start scanning.
If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.
If the problem persists, contact support through the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal and include: your license key (or the email address associated with your Styku account), the exact error message or screen you see when the issue occurs, the Windows version on your computer (Windows 10 or 11), and whether you are setting up on the original scanner laptop or a replacement device.
Applies to: Styku Studio V5, all current Styku scanner models (X2L), Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers.
